I'm happy to say that this weekend I found our old Beef Gyudon aka Rice and Cow recipe in the M.P.S. archives! I personally have prepared this dish several times and enjoyed it immensely. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
INGREDIENTS:
· 4 cups steamed Japanese rice
· 1 pound thinly sliced beef
· 1 onion
· 1 1/3 cup dashi soup
· 5 tbsps soy sauce
· 3 tbsps mirin
· 2 tbsps sugar
· 1 tsp sake
Slice onion thinly. Cut beef into bite-sized pieces. Put soy sauce, sugar, mirin, and sake in a pan. Add onion slices in the pot and simmer for a few minutes. Add the beef into the pan and simmer for a few more minutes. Serve hot Japanese rice in a bowl, placing the beef topping on the top of the rice. Finally, break out into song and devour.
